Hubei University of Chinese Medicine

The history of Hubei University of Chinese Medicine dates back to the year of 1958 when it was first founded as Hubei Vocational School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1954.The university is the only TCM university in Hubei province and granted Excellence Level in the evaluation of bachelor education held by Chinese Central Education Ministry.

Currently the University, in total, has 23000 students. The University's staff has reached the number of 1100people, among them, 675 are full time teachers, and 130 have the title of Professor.

The university has 26 specialities including 14 specialties，i.e. Basic Theory of TCM, Acu-moxibustion and Massage, Clinical Basis of TCM, TCM Internal Medicine, etc. for doctor degree; 24 specialties, i.e. Basic Theory of TCM, Acu-moxibustion and Massage, Clinical Basis of TCM, TCM Internal Medicine, TCM Diagnostics, TCM Orthopedics, TCM Gynecology, Clinic on Integration of Chinese and Western Medicine, Chinese Material Medica, etc. for master degree. More than 104 bases for clinical practice, including 7 affiliated hospitals, 4 State-Level medical research centers, 10 research institutions,21 State-Level, Province-Level or College-Level laboratories for teaching. The University occupies 161 acres with a total construction of about 470, 000m2.

In year 1993, the university was recognized by the Central Education Ministry as one of the first batch of universities which may accept foreign students. With the approval of Central Education Ministry and State TCM Management Bureau, the university may accept undergraduate and postgraduate students from Hongkong, Macaw and Taiwan.

Since 1986 when it started to enroll the foreign students and students from China Hongkong-Macao-Taiwan, the university has trained over 1600 overseas students from over 30 different countries and regions. Up to now, the Overseas Education School has 534 resident overseas students from over 30 different countries and regions. Among the provincial universities, Hubei University of Chinese Medicine has full spectrum for different level of degrees and most advanced living facilities.
